Matt Picciotto and Mariners' Disaster Operations Team - Sat May 2, 2009

From Matt:

"The Mariners' Church Disaster Operations Team is operational. In partnership with The Salvation Army and their Emergency Disaster Services, 9 members of Mariners' Church have been trained on the Mobile Disaster Canteen. This truck, fully equipped with a commercial kitchen, generator, and fresh water tank is capable of serving up to 1000 meals a day in a location without electricity or running water. Sue Keck, Scott Keck, Ian Keck, Ashley Smith, Dink Smith, Ragnar Lamb, Ray Leight, Nick Boucher, and Matt Picciotto have all completed the basic canteen training and are prepared to respond to local and distant disasters with the mobile kitchen truck stationed at The Salvation Army Annapolis Corps.

Besides being trained in the use of the truck, several of the team began addressing repair issues on the vehicle, noting what was needed to make the truck fully operational and safe to use. Lunch was cooked aboard by the team and some driving practice was also done.

Those interested in learning more about the disaster relief or would like to get involved in the Disaster Operations Team can contact Matt Picciotto via email at Rustman_mv@yahoo.com"

Great work, Team!!
